SCMAP Visayas is indeed gaining the momentum of change and growth as it successfully holds their conference “Sharpening the Supply Chain Practitioners – Series 2” last February 10, 2018, at the Harolds Hotel, Cebu City.
Hosted by SCMAP Visayas’ very own PRO, Dr. RodienPaca, the event was opened by introducing Ms. MarivicEsmero, SCMAP Visayas’ President-elect to lead the invocation.
The activity then proceeded with awelcome address from the SCMAP Visayas President, Mr. Gilbert Cabataña, as he welcomes the guests and participants for the activity. He shares how the organization has grown in a short span of only 5 years, from just having 16 member companies towards having41 member companies.Mr. Cabataña emphasizes how the organization is in a momentum towards growth, achieving more possibilities with its member companies and with key supply chain organizations in Visayas.
As the organization steadily grows, it has also become a clear objective to sharpen the skills and knowledge of its members in the field of supply chain management. With this, the background of the speakers are very strategic and timely to appropriate to the in demand skills and knowledge in the industry.
The series of talks was then started by no less than the Supply Chain Director of Monde Nissin Corporation, Mr. Allan Flores, who elaborated on his topic “Journey towards Agile Supply Chain Management”. He introduced the concept of LeAgile Supply Chain Management – Lean and Agile Supply Chain which should be responsive & adaptive to change, and at the same time Lean in core processes. He notes that agility is only maximized when service levels, capital expenditures, and costs are ensured to be Lean.
Mr. Flores was then followed by Engr. Nestor Dolina, the Chairman and Founder of the Adsia Group of Companies. He shared with the participants “Let’s Learn Hardcore Logistics: Warehouse and Transportation Management“. Engr. Dolina explained the dynamics of warehouse and transportation management, stressing the key differences of the two. He also discusses the importance of data mining in the field of supply chain, showing how it is a key to the future playing field in supply chain management.
The third speaker is the LF Logistics PH Vice President for Operations, Mr. Carloman Magno Jr. With his background in Information Technology and in Supply Chain, he discussed the topic on “Speed, Innovation, Digitalization in Warehouse Operations Management”. He explained the individual importance of each aspect in designing solutions for Warehouse Operations. Mr. Magno also shared creative solutions to achieve Speed, Innovation, and Digitalization in Warehouse Operations.
The induction of the 3 newly registered member companies was also one of the highlights for the event. Representatives from EFE Enterprises, One Source Logistics Asia Inc. (OSLAI), and Zuellig Pharmaceuticals Corp. were requested to come up stage for the oath-taking. This testifies how the organization has really been gaining momentum over the years, with a jam-packedvenue with150 participantsfrom 45 different companies, the recently concluded SCMAP Visayas activity was definitely a success.
In just 5 years, we’ve already come this far as an organization. Can you imagine what more possibilities we have as an organization?
